We come a long way since then.When I was twelve, my parents told me they were getting a divorce. The fighting in our house had hit all-time highs that summer, each argument ending in long stretches of aggressive silence. Sometimes at night, it felt like the silence had a hand around my neck. By the time my parents split, it was almost a relief.

It was until the divorce was underway that Mom dropped the bomb: she wanted to leave St. Louis, and she wanted me to go with her.I sometimes wonder how different things would be if  just agreed. But I never could have done that to Dad.In the end, Mom stayed for me, but the damage was done. Dad was angry she even considered trying to take me away, and Mom resented him for keeping her stuck in the place she so desperately wanted to leave. I wondered if Mom resented me for keeping her there, too.I was as angry as I was sad. My parents, who for so long had been a single entity to me, were no longer speaking. I was transferred between houses every two weeks, dropped at the curb like a poorly delivered package.

All the characters of the novel are unique and refreshing.. It’s a unique novel in numerous ways, and yet, of course, its themes are universal. No doubt this novel is a truly original and well informed creation. Its tremendous story make this novel more interesting. n extremely powerful story. This theme, which has implications far beyond the obvious racial parallel, is skillfully handled. Got the chills so many times toward the end of this book. It completely blew my mind. It managed to surpass my high expectations and be nothing at all like I expected.
